The Strong Communities Coalition —
Report calls for urgent action on huge gaps
in health and social service funding for GTA/905 communities
October 17, 2006 — An independent analysis of provincial funding reveals a large and growing funding gap for health and social services in the 905/GTA compared to other regions in the province. The Strong Communities Coalition, comprised of the United Ways in Oakville, Peel, York, Durham and the GTA/905 Healthcare Alliance, will recommend that the Government of Ontario take both immediate and long-term steps to address the funding inequity and improves access to human services for the residents of high growth regions.
