The GTA / 905 Healthcare Alliance

The GTA / 905 Healthcare Alliance represents 10 acute care community hospitals and a mental health facility. Combined, they are responsible for delivering acute and chronic care to more than three million people, 25 per cent of Ontario’s population in the fastest-growing regions of the province – Halton, Peel, York and Durham.

Healthcare close to home

The GTA/905 Alliance was created to help ensure that residents of these rapidly-growing regions have access to quality healthcare as close to home as possible by:

  • Securing equitable hospital funding; and
  • Establishing strategic partnerships to meet the needs of our growing population.

Our Priorities

  • Have the Government of Ontario recognize and address the health care needs of more than three million residents living in the GTA/905 regions by correcting historical funding inequities;
  • Build a system that is better integrated, reduces wait times and provides better access to around-the-clock health care close to home;
  • Provide a clear voice that represents the interests of the GTA/905 regions as the government implements Local Health Integrated Networks;
  • Ensure that the GTA/905 regions are recognized as priority centres for investment in hospital infrastructure; and
  • Ensure that hospitals in the GTA/905 regions receive their fair share of healthcare funding.

Our Brand Promise

On behalf of the 3+ million people living in communities served by our members:

  • We will be a tireless advocate for better healthcare, close to home.

From the standpoint of our 11 member hospitals:

  • We will speak out loudly, and with one voice, to ensure that the government understands the issues faced by Ontario’s fastest growing communities, and the need to adequately fund better healthcare, close to home.

From the standpoint of government:

  • We will be relentless in our efforts to provide our 3 million residents with better healthcare, close to home, and will use all methods at our disposal to ensure that we achieve our objective.
